Fishing has been the most interesting and oldest sport in human history. It was invented thousands of years ago at the very first human civilization; in fact it was developed as a necessity but in today's world it has become a major sport rather than a source of food. It is interesting to know that there are hundreds of individual fishers around the world in open sea catching fishes as food and there are some people who just love fishing. But it is actually all about right instruments, timing and of course the right fishing technique.

Catching the Big Fish:

You will be amazed to know that when you hear of fishing, you probably think of catching tuna or similar species but it is actually not that simple. The sea is a big treasure of all kinds of marines and it includes sharks, squids, shrimps, octopus and numerous other kinds of fishes and it requires different kinds of fishing technique in order to catch different kinds of fishes. Moreover, it is not just limited to sea but it also applies on rivers, lakes and ponds.

The most historical and simplest kind of fishing technique is using bare hands and spears. Ancient human used their eyes to see fishes in shallow water for instance streams, which joins two rivers and it is still widely used in mountain areas. Some archeologists have found some fishing sites in France that dates back to more than 300,000 years. And this technique is still widely used in Japan. It is usually used to collect oysters, sea shells and lobsters, which cost fairly high.

Another very popular fishing technique is using net and it is very popular in South Asia especially in Kerala, India and Bangladesh. This technique is widely used in commercial fishing where you require a large amount of fishes for consumers and they are exported around the world. It is a very simple technique and requires less effort.

Talking about the most popular fishing technique; angling is probably the most widely used technique around the world. It has a hook attached to a string and the hook has a small fish shape object called slab is attached to it imitating as a fish and it sinks down the floor. The whole mechanism comprises of a fishing rod and a reel and it is skillfully projected called casting by swinging it in the air. Some fishers also use guns and bows to cast the slab far in the water. Some fishers also use a float that actually floats in water and indicate when a fish is caught. Commercial fish catchers use a very long string comprising of multiple hooks and floats and they drops it in deep sea.

Some fishers also use hand-lining as a fishing technique, comprising of a string and a special object called lure. Lure is a small fish like object that has usually two large hooks attached to it. Some fishers also use another small fish known as bait, to attract larger fishes. This technique is used to catch squids and pelagic fish. There are many other techniques of fishing but what is also important is that you choose the right instrument to catch the right fish.
